Mayor's Report on the 2019 Budget Forecast for the Municipality of Chelsea

December 18, 2018

Dear residents,

Now it is time to present the 2019 budget forecasts. This budget marks the first full year of service for your city council. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their sustained efforts throughout the year.

What's new

Heavy rain : updates

Update: April 19, 10:40 p.m.

Meech Lake road is now reopen to circulation.

Heavy rains: no imminent risk of flooding in Chelsea

In anticipation of heavy rains and warm weather expected in the region in the coming days, our team is currently mobilized and closely monitoring the situation.

The water level of the section of the Gatineau River flowing within the limits of the municipality is currently lower than normal.  At the moment, there does not seem to be any imminent risk of flooding. We remind you that in 2017, Chelsea was not affected by the floods.

Rest assured that if the situation changes in the coming days, sandbags will be made available to residents.

Gatineau Park’s Parkways to Close Overnight (from the NCC)

The National Capital Commission (NCC) would like to inform you about a new initiative for Gatineau Park’s Parkways. A pilot project will be implemented, whereby the parkways (Gatineau, Champlain and Fortune Lake) will be closed to motorists overnight, beginning when the parkways reopen for the 2019 season.
