Study of the general state of riparian buffer strips and the shoreline of the Gatineau River

The Municipality has mandated the Agence de bassin versant des 7 (ABV des 7) to carry out a summary environmental characterization of the shorelines of municipal land along the Gatineau River.

This study combined with available up to date environmental data will be used by the Environment Department, to analyze, among other things, applications for type 3 scenario permits of the By-law 1210-21 respecting docks and conditions of occupancy of the municipal land bordering the Gatineau River.

The data will also be consulted for any other project affecting the land concerned.  This type of study enables the Municipality to study files rigorously and make informed decisions based on facts.

Please note that some passages deal with sensitive environmental data that is confidential and not intended for the public. The reports contain data from the Centre de données sur le patrimoine naturel du Québec (CDPNQ), which is confidential and transmitted solely for the purposes of research, conservation and land management, with a view to improving the protection of species at risk and their habitats. To better protect the species in question, the CDPNQ requires that this information not be divulged.

In addition, the Environment Department is bound by the code of ethics of the Association des biologistes du Québec (ABQ), in which it undertakes to respect the confidentiality of any information of a confidential nature obtained in the exercise of its profession.
