The Journées de la culture (Culture Days) and the Inauguration of the Meech Creek Valley Circuit - A success in Chelsea!

October 3, 2014

The Municipality of Chelsea is proud to announce the great success of the Journées de la culture, an event that took place on September 27 and 28, allowing population to discover local arts and culture, and a new historical circuit.

On Saturday, people had the opportunity to attend an Art Symposium organized by La Fab presenting creations from local artists. A diversity of activities were also presented at the Fall Fair of the Old Chelsea Market, including musicians, mimes and clowns, face painting and activities for kids by the Joujouthèque to please the crowd of over 150 people that participated to the event. The evening was marked by the local folk band Honey and the Brothers Farr music show in front of La Fab that offered a magical feel to the evening.

On Sunday, The Recreation, Culture and Community Life Department and the Gatineau Valley Historical Society in collaboration with the National Capital Commission, inaugurated the pathway called A Walk Through History in Meech Creek Valley revealing the history of the Meech Creek Valley and the emblematic covered bridge of Chelsea.

The Recreation, Culture and Community Life Department has been working on this project since Winter 2014 and would like to thank all the partners and volunteers that helped make this achievement possible. We are taking this opportunity to invite anyone interested in getting involved as volunteers to communicate with us at benevolat@chelsea.ca or at
